UPDATE: Death Investigation Ongoing after Dauphin County Prison Inmate Found Unresponsive in Cell

The deceased is 37-year-old Kyle Joseph Nadwodny.

Nadwodny had been held on 25 counts of disseminating photographs or film of child sex acts, 31 counts of possession of child pornography, and criminal use of communication facility.

Magisterial District Judge Joseph S. Lindsey preliminarily arraigned Nadwodny on those charges on May 5, 2021, and set bail at $150,000.

Nadwodny did not post that bail.

Additionally, Nadwodny was being held on pending charges from Chester County.

ORIGINAL RELEASE:

An inmate at Dauphin County Prison was found unresponsive in his cell Wednesday and was pronounced dead following emergency medical response.

A corrections officer saw the 37-year-old inmate in his cell about 3 a.m. and immediately summoned medical assistance.

The 37-year-old man was tied to his bedding materials. The investigation so far indicates the man hanged himself.

The Dauphin County District Attorney’s Office Criminal Investigation Division is investigating. Detectives responded to the prison Wednesday morning.

A Dauphin County Deputy Coroner pronounced the man dead at the prison.

The man had a cellmate who woke up when the corrections officer summoned help.

The man was incarcerated May 5.

Video and other information indicates corrections officers had conducted cellblock walkthroughs thorough out the night.

We expect to release additional information, including the man’s name, as the investigation progresses.
