Dauphin County-owned Duke Street Bridge in Hummelstown area closed due to high water and debris

HARRISBURG, PA (July 23, 2018) – Dauphin County’s Duke Street Bridge, at the intersection of North Duke Street and South Hoernerstown Road in Hummelstown, is closed to all non-emergency vehicles effective immediately due to flooding along the Swatara Creek, said Dauphin County Commissioners Jeff Haste, Mike Pries and George P. Hartwick, III.

Although the structure of the bridge is sound, the creek continues to rise and is causing debris to build up. The commissioners and the county engineer, Herbert, Rowland & Grubic, Inc. (HRG) have decided to temporarily close the bridge as a precaution.

Other county-owned bridges are being checked by HRG to ensure the safety of the general public.
