The Tax Claim Bureau is responsible for the collection of all delinquent real property taxes on behalf of the County, municipalities, and school districts located in Dauphin County. (Steelton-Highspire School District delinquent real property tax is collected by Portnoff Law Associates beginning with the 2018 tax.) In this statutory collection process, the Bureau receives unpaid accounts from the 39 municipalities, via tax collectors and/or treasurers within Dauphin County, provides statutorily mandated notices to owners, and administers Upset Tax Sales, Judicial Tax Sales, bankruptcies, and the repository of unsold properties. (Steelton Borough delinquent real property tax is collected by Portnoff Law Associates beginning with the 2018 tax.) The Bureau also provides various tax certifications regarding paid and unpaid delinquent taxes as requested.

Tax Certification
A tax certification is an official document produced on Tax Claim Bureau letterhead stating whether there are or are not delinquent real estate taxes due on a parcel.
A tax claim statement accompanies this document, which reflects the amount of delinquent taxes owed on that parcel as of the certificate date. If no delinquent taxes are due, the claim statement will reflect that information.
The cost for a tax certification is $15 per parcel.

Tax Sale Abstract
A Tax Sale Abstract is an official document produced by the Tax Claim Bureau after the tax sale of a parcel. An abstract includes the date and type of sale, owners name(s), sale notice dates and type of service, posting and advertisement dates and the purchasers name(s).
An Upset Sale Abstract provides information regarding the notification and type of service to owner(s) and co-owner(s).
A Judicial Sale Abstract provides the same information as the Upset Sale Abstract, as well as lien holder(s) and type of service of sale notification.
A Repository Sale Abstract provides the same information as Judicial Sale Abstracts.
The cost for a tax sale abstract is $25 per parcel, per sale.
