You have reached the Dauphin County Tax Assessment and Tax Claim Bureau website.  Due to the COVID-19 emergency, Dauphin County offices are closed to the public; however, these offices are available to answer your questions.  Please  call our office at (717) 780-6101 and leave a message including your name, call back number (even if you think we have it), and a brief message; someone will reply within 24 hours.  


All Tax Assessment and Tax Claim Bureau information continues to be available at https://www.dauphincounty.org/services/property_and_taxes/index.php.

If you need to submit payments or document, there are two drop boxes outside our office main entrance.  One for Tax Claim Bureau payments, and the second (black box) is for Tax Assessment related documents, including plans and deeds for UPI certification.  If subdivision and/or land development plans for PIN numbers are being submitted but will not fit into the black box, deliver these documents to the security guard at our main entrance - with the appropriate department name to which these are to be delivered - as well as your contact information for further instructions.  The contents of these boxes will be reviewed weekly and processed as soon as possible.

BEGINNING APRIL 1, 2020, THE 2019 DELINQUENT TAX CAN BE PAID ONLINE AND OVER THE PHONE.

THE INTEREST FREE GRACE PERIOD FOR ALL TAXING ENTITIES, WITH THE EXCEPTION OF HIGHSPIRE BOROUGH, HAS BEEN EXTENEDED TO MAY 29. HOWEVER, TO TAKE ADVANTAGE OF THIS DISCOUNT PAYMENT OF 2019 TAX MUST BE PAID THROUGH CERTIFIED CHECK MAILED TO THE OFFICE OR PUT IN THE DROP BOX OUTSIDE OUR BUILDING.

The Tax Claim Bureau is responsible for the collection of all delinquent real property taxes on behalf of the County, municipalities, and school districts located in Dauphin County. (Steelton-Highspire School District delinquent real property tax is collected by Portnoff Law Associates beginning with the 2018 tax.) In this statutory collection process, the Bureau receives unpaid accounts from the 39 municipalities, via tax collectors and/or treasurers within Dauphin County, provides statutorily mandated notices to owners, and administers Upset Tax Sales, Judicial Tax Sales, bankruptcies, and the repository of unsold properties. (Steelton Borough delinquent real property tax is collected by Portnoff Law Associates beginning with the 2018 tax.) The Bureau also provides various tax certifications regarding paid and unpaid delinquent taxes as requested.

Tax Certification
A tax certification is an official document produced on Tax Claim Bureau letterhead stating whether there are or are not delinquent real estate taxes due on a parcel.
A tax claim statement accompanies this document, which reflects the amount of delinquent taxes owed on that parcel as of the certificate date. If no delinquent taxes are due, the claim statement will reflect that information.
The cost for a tax certification is $15 per parcel.

Tax Sale Abstract
A Tax Sale Abstract is an official document produced by the Tax Claim Bureau after the tax sale of a parcel. An abstract includes the date and type of sale, owners name(s), sale notice dates and type of service, posting and advertisement dates and the purchasers name(s).
An Upset Sale Abstract provides information regarding the notification and type of service to owner(s) and co-owner(s).
A Judicial Sale Abstract provides the same information as the Upset Sale Abstract, as well as lien holder(s) and type of service of sale notification.
A Repository Sale Abstract provides the same information as Judicial Sale Abstracts.
The cost for a tax sale abstract is $25 per parcel, per sale.

Process For Payment of Delinquent Tax

INTEREST CANNOT BE ADJUSTED FOR OVER THE PHONE OR ONLINE CREDIT CARD/DEBIT PAYMENTS DURING THE INTEREST-FREE GRACE PERIOD.
THERE WILL BE NO REFUNDS IF PAID OVER THE PHONE OR ONLINE CREDIT OR DEBIT

Process For Payment of 2019 Delinquent Real Property Tax

2018-2019 Real Property Tax for Steelton-Highspire School District will be collected by Portnoff Law Associates – this includes districts 30, 57, 58, 59, 60, and 61.

2018-2019 Real Property Tax for Steelton Borough will be collected by Portnoff Law Associates – this includes districts 57, 58, 59, 60, and 61.

EFFECTED IMMEDIATELY THE MINIMUM BID REQUIREMENT AMOUNT FOR REPOSITORY AND JUDICIAL SALES WILL BE INCREASED TO $1,000.00
