Fort Hunter Park 2021 Season
This month-long celebration begins with the Mansion decorated with artfully arranged fresh greens by the Garden Club of Harrisburg. The Fort Hunter Mansion is open for tours Tuesday-Sunday with reservations preferred and prioritized. Admission is just $5.00 per person. Learn more & register.
Weekends include a popular toy train exhibit in the Centennial Barn, decorated Christmas trees exhibited in the Tavern House, and Fort Couture where dress forms are transformed into imaginative holiday decorations. Consider joining the fun at one of the special events such as a visit with Santa's Reindeer or the Victorian Tea!
Unique Gifts are available for purchase in the Fort Hunter Museum Gift Shop or via the online store. Kids can also order gifts online with our "Kids Only" shop with all items priced at $10 or under.
|Toy Trains - All aboard! The magical HO gauge model trains start rolling November 27 - December 19 every Saturday and Sunday from 12:30 - 4:30. Presented by the Keystone Model Railroad Historical Society. Lots of interactive elements and the walk-around setup make this a must-see attraction for the whole family! Free admission.|
|Festival of Trees - Enjoy beautifully decorated Christmas trees trimmed by local garden clubs on view in the historic Tavern House from November 27 - December 19 every Saturday and Sunday from 12:30 - 4:30 p.m. A selection of handmade ornaments are also available for purchase. Free admission.|
|Fort Couture - Tucked away in the stone stable you can take in all the creativity of these dress forms turned holiday decoration! Volunteers, Friends of Fort Hunter, and local businesses create these imaginative displays. On view December 4-19 every Saturday and Sunday from 12:30 - 4:30 p.m. Free admission.|
|Victorian Tea - Enjoy the annual Fort Hunter victorian Tea in a hybrid fashion this year. Tour the beautiful Fort Hunter Mansion in-person adorned with fresh greens and natural trimmings, and view a demonstration of making clear toy candy, an old-time favorite. Enjoy familiar holiday tunes by Mary Ann Guerrisi on violin and Becky Boone on flute.
Then take your tea "to go." Tea boxes will include a Guide Book on Fort Hunter Mansion, the Fort Hunter spice tea mix, cookies, scones, and jam.
This event takes place on December 5 with timed-entry between12:00 - 4:00 p.m. Advance registration is required, regular guided tours will not be offered on this date. $20 for non-members | $15 for Friends of Fort Hunter Members. Register here!
|Meet Santa's Reindeer - Join us for this holiday tradition on Saturday, December 11 from 12:30 - 2:30 p.m. Visit Fort Hunter in person and take a photograph with Santa's reindeer. Individually wrapped refreshments are available by donation from The Friends of Fort Hunter. Pre-registration is required for this free event and space is limited. Register here!|
|Storytime with Mrs. Claus - Visit us virtually via the Dauphin County Parks & Recreation Facebook page for a bedtime story read to you by Mrs. Claus. Stories will be posted at 5:00 p.m. on December 11, 12, 18, 19 & 24. Posts will remain online, so you can access them at your leisure.
