2020 Cultural Celebration Essay Contest
Sponsored by the Dauphin County’s Cultural Celebration Task Force and Human Services Department for students between the ages of 6 to 18.

The essay questions are as follows:
Ages 6-10: Describe a yearly diversity celebration in the United States and explain the importance of such a celebration - for example, Hispanic Heritage Celebration, Black History Month, and Martin Luther King, Jr. Day. Essay length: 75-150 words.
Ages 11-14: If you were to select a national hero who promoted diversity inclusion and equality rights to become a national holiday celebration, who would it be and why?Essay length: 150-250 words.
Ages 15-18: How can you get your school, including school administration and teachers, on board with diversity and inclusion initiatives? Essay length: 250-500 words.
- Three winners will be chosen from each category, awarded cash prizes & recognized by the Dauphin County Commissioners.
- Essays should include the participant’s name, school, grade, age, home address, home phone number and word count on the attached form.
This essay contest is open to any child in Dauphin County.
