Who has to recycle in Dauphin County and why?
Pennsylvania's legislature adopted Act 101 of 1988;
the Municipal Waste Planning, Recycling and Waste Reduction Act
Who is required to recycle?
Residential, commercial, institutional and municipal establishments, and community activities that have at least 5,000 residents and a population density greater than 300 people per square mile.
What is required to be recycled?
Businesses and institutions must recycle:
- Corrugated Cardboard
- High grade office paper
- Aluminum cans
- Leaf Waste
- And other materials required by your local ordinance
Residential recycling must include leaf waste and at least three of the following:
- Clear glass
- Aluminum cans
- Plastics
- Newsprint
- Leaf Waste
- Colored glass
- Steel and bimetallic cans
- Office Paper
- Corrugated cardboard
