If you are a dog owner in Dauphin County, it is important that you license your dog. Licensing is mandated by state law and is enforced by the Pennsylvania Department of Agriculture. Fines for failing to secure a license range from $25.00 to $300.00. The Dauphin County Treasurer's office maintains a database of licenses that are issued, which enables lost dogs to be returned to their owners more readily. This reduces costs incurred by the municipalities when the Humane Society must take possession of a lost dog.

• Annual License - complete and mail annual license application and payment to Dauphin County Treasurer
• Lifetime Microchip license - complete and mail Request for Microchip PIV form to Dauphin County Treasurer
• Lifetime Tattoo License - complete and mail lifetime license application and payment to Dauphin County Treasurer. (Please include date of tattoo on top of application.)
• Due to a change in regulation from the PA Bureau of Dog Law, we are now able to accept copied versions of the permanent identification verification forms required for lifetime dog licenses. Download the form here.
• In order to transfer a lifetime or annual dog license, please send the license number and your personal information to the county that the license was issued. Please list the new county in which the dog will be licensed and the information will then be forwarded to the new treasurer for issuance. The cost of this transaction is $1 payable to the treasurer of the new county.
• Please note: We will not complete a change of ownership or a transfer of a license unless we have written permission, with a signature, from the owner of the current license.
