Publicly Elected Officials

An elected official is in charge of each office. Voters elect row officers to four-year terms.

The term Row Office developed in the 1800's. County officials had their offices all in a row on the ground floor on both sides of a long corridor in the first courthouse. As the years passed, record keeping and county services became more complex. Row Offices, therefore, are no longer in a row but instead occupy larger spaces in the courthouse and elsewhere.

The Row Offices record and safeguard official records, collect fees for services and/or court-imposed fines, and aid in the administration of justice. Fees and fines help defray the cost of carrying out the duties of the Row Offices thereby reducing the cost to taxpayers.

This section includes a short description of each Row Office and highlights of fees, we invite you to contact.
