Volunteer Opportunities at Dauphin County Parks & Recreation

Nature Center/Front Desk: Meet and greet visitors, answer telephones, process gift shop sales and assist the staff with the opening and/or closing of the nature center; assist visitors in the exhibit hall.

Landscape Maintenance and Projects: Participate in the monthly Volunteer Work Day outdoor projects available for groups or individuals.

Wildwood Walkers: Walk the Sanctuary trails during peak park usage; provide information and public relations to visitors.

Trail Trimmers: Maintain trails in Sanctuary by clipping encroaching vegetation while maintaining a natural look. Monitor and alert the staff of potential safety hazards.

Speaker's Bureau: Help staff booths at fairs and other community events; develop and conduct public relations presentations for community groups and organizations.

Gift Shop: Assist with the management of the gift shop. Restock merchandise, maintain inventory records and assist with sales and special events.

Miscellaneous: Assist with educational programming, mailings and administrative duties, and exhibit upgrades.

Litter maintenance: assist with controlling litter entering the park from the adjacent highways as well as along the park trails.
