State Legislators, Dauphin County Commissioners and Local Leaders to Break Ground on 2,400-Foot Sidewalk along Union Deposit Road in Susquehanna Township to Improve Public Safety
WHAT: State, county and local officials will hold a ground-breaking ceremony to begin construction of 2,400 feet of new sidewalk along Union Deposit Road, extending from Shield Street to the Sheetz store at Briarsdale Road. This project will make travel along Union Deposit Road, a busy commercial and residential corridor, safer for pedestrians and bicyclists.
As this area in Susquehanna Township continues to experience growth and development, more residents are walking to their places of employment, bus stops, shops and restaurants.
The project is funded by grant monies from Dauphin County Commissioners Jeff Haste, Mike Pries and George P. Hartwick, III, who provided $172,000 in local share gaming grant funds, and PennDOT and the Commonwealth Finance Agency, which awarded $504,840 from the Multimodal Transportation Fund.
Construction of the sidewalk is expected to be completed in the fall of 2018.
