Dauphin County officials are investigating the death of a Dauphin County Prison inmate who died at an area hospital Saturday morning, 10 days after he was transported following a medical incident at the prison.

David W. White, 64, was pronounced dead early Saturday morning. His relatives were notified prior to this release of information.

White had been hospitalized since the medical incident at the prison on June 23.

White was incarcerated last month on felony drug charges, and also had active charges from outside Dauphin County.

Dauphin County Coroner Graham Hetrick is investigating the cause and manner of death.

The Dauphin County District Attorney’s Office Criminal Investigation Division is investigating the circumstances around White’s death.

So far, the investigation has shown nothing to indicate White was assaulted at the prison.

Part of the investigation involves a review of White’s medical history.

Additional information will be released as appropriate.
