Driver Waiting for Vaccination at Clinic Collides with Cinder Weight

A vehicle collided with a cinder weight fixture Thursday afternoon at Dauphin County’s mass vaccination clinic at HACC.

The vehicle’s driver was waiting in line for a vaccination, in his vehicle, prior to the collision. The driver had not yet received the vaccine.

The vehicle’s driver experienced a medical emergency unrelated to the vaccine, causing the driver to accelerate into a cinder weight used to tether the clinic’s main tent about 12:45 p.m.

No one, and no other vehicles, were struck.

The driver received treatment on scene and was taken to an area hospital. The vehicle was towed from the scene.

Vaccination was stopped and resumed about 1:25 p.m.

UPMC dispatched to the scene a Critical Incident Support Team to assist any volunteers and staff having difficulty coping with the event.
