Mental retardation usually occurs at or near birth and is a life-long condition characterized by slower intellectual development. Persons with mental retardation in Dauphin County have access to a wide variety of services enabling them to develop to their fullest potential in the community. These services include:

1. Case Management Services

2. Family Support Services

3. Vocational Services

4. Adult Developmental Services

5. Early Intervention Services

6. Community Residential Services

7. Consultation and Education Services

8. Information and Referral

The CMU is a non-profit organization contracted by the Dauphin County MH/MR Program to provide comprehensive case management for Dauphin County residents who need assistance with mental health, mental retardation or early intervention services.
