Crisis Intervention

Crisis Intervention is the 24-hour emergency service component of the Dauphin County Mental Health/Mental Retardation Program. Professional mental health workers provide counseling, outreach, and other services to individuals experiencing an emotional crisis or difficulty in coping with a personal problem.

Anyone can experience a crisis. Some situations may cause a person to have feelings of extreme helplessness and hopelessness, to feel overwhelmed or unable to cope, or to feel on the verge of loosing control. A person having feelings of this type is experiencing a mental health crisis.

Crisis Intervention provides telephone, walk-in and mobile services, which are available 24-hours a day through the Crisis Intervention Office, located at 100 Chestnut Street, Harrisburg, PA.
