Internship Overview
The prestigious and competitive Dauphin County Commissioners' Internship Program offers a County Government internship position for students enrolled in a four-year undergraduate or graduate program.
For more than five years, the Commissioners' Office internship program has offered numerous students experience in the day-to-day operations of county government. The goal of the program, as envisioned by the Commissioners and Chief Clerk, is to provide a meaningful and real-world experience. Depending upon the intern's interest, ability, and experience, internships can focus on a specific area of county government, including, but not limited to, administration, communications, prison and corrections, economic development, human services and criminal justice. Interns will work with the County Commissioners, the Chief Clerk and key staff on projects, special events, preparation for weekly public meetings, news releases, research, county policy, correspondence and much more.
Ultimately, the internship program is focused on helping students gain valuable experience and skills related to their educational focus and career path.
