October 04, 2017 - Dauphin County Board of Elections changes polling place in South Hanover Township, reminds voters of upcoming deadlines for November election

HARRISBURG, PA (October 4, 2017) The Dauphin County Board of Elections has changed the polling place for South Hanover Township’s Second Precinct from Deer Valley Golf Course to the South Hanover Township Municipal Building, 161 Patriot Way. This polling place change will take effect for the November 7 general election.

The Board of Elections also reminds residents who would like to vote in the general election of important deadlines for registering to vote and obtaining and filing absentee ballots.

The deadline for registering to vote before the general election is October 10.

To register to vote, an individual must be:

  • A United States citizen for at least one month prior to the election,
  • A resident of Pennsylvania and the election district for at least 30 days prior to the election, and
  • At least 18 years of age on or before the date of the election.

Citizens who meet these requirements may register to vote online at www.register.votespa.com, a website hosted by the Pennsylvania Department of State.

Eligible voters also can register by mail or apply in person at a county voter registration office; county assistance offices; Women, Infants & Children (WIC) program offices; PennDOT photo and driver’s license centers; Armed Forces recruitment centers; county clerk of orphans’ courts or marriage license offices; area agencies on aging; county mental health and intellectual disabilities offices; student disability services offices of the State System of Higher Education; offices of special education in high schools; and Americans with Disabilities Act-mandated complementary paratransit providers.

Residents who are unable to vote in person at their polling place on election day can apply for an absentee ballot. The last day to apply for a civilian absentee ballot is October 31. Civilian absentee ballots must be received by the Dauphin County Elections and Voter Registration Office, 2 S. 2nd St., 1st floor, Harrisburg, no later than November 3. Voters are encouraged to submit their absentee ballots as soon as possible to ensure they are received by the deadline.

Elected offices on this year’s ballot include statewide and county judges; two county row offices; magisterial district judges; city, township and borough officials; and school directors.

Voter registration and civilian absentee ballot forms, as well as a list of polling places, can be found on www.DauphinCounty.org by clicking “Government Services,” and then on “Elections & Voter Registration” and then “"Vote,” or by calling the Bureau of Registration and Elections at 717-780-6360.
