​Application Process:  Current employees must complete a Transfer Application and attach their resume.  Non-County employees must complete a Dauphin County Application for Employment. Applicants must attach transcripts or other required documentation evidencing qualifications for the position. Applications may be obtained from and must be submitted to the Department of Human Resources.

Persons wishing to apply for a posted Dauphin County Prison position should complete an Application for Prison Employment and submit it to the Dauphin County Department of Human Resources.

While Dauphin County does not inquire into an individual’s criminal history at the time of application, with the exception of Prison positions, certain convictions may disqualify an individual from a position. For a listing of offenses that prohibit individuals from holding positions in certain departments, please see our Prohibited Offenses Listing. Individuals having convictions in these categories may wish to apply for positions with less restrictions.

An excellent Dauphin County (County) paid benefit package is available to all full-time employees the month following 60 days of employment. The County pays 100% of the premium for the following:

Prison$20.87
Dauphin County Prison is currently accepting applications for the full-time position of Maintenance Worker.  An employee in this position performs repairs, maintenance, and minor construction of Prison structures, equipment, and premises, and supervises Prison inmates in tasks such as painting and cleaning.  This is a union position. 
 
Minimum Education, Experience and Training Requirements:  Graduation from high school or an accredited equivalency program, plus one year of experience in trade or maintenance work.  The qualified candidate must be at least 21 years of age by the date of hire.  A favorable criminal background check is required.

Dauphin County Prison is currently accepting applications for the full-time, varied shift position of Treatment Specialist I.   An employee in this position will provide casework and counseling services to Prison inmates (classified and unclassified; sentenced and unsentenced) on Prison premises.  He/she may work in concert on block with an associated Treatment Specialist II (whose duties he/she may appropriate or share as necessary, or as directed by proper authority), and reports to the Treatment Supervisor, Treatment Coordinator, or Deputy Warden for Treatment Services (as the last directs). This is a union position.
 
Minimum Education, Experience & Training Requirements:  Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in social sciences, psychology, education, or a related field; counseling experience preferred. The qualified candidate must be at least 21 years of age by the date of hire.   A favorable criminal background check is required.

Judicial Center$23.32
Dauphin County Judicial Center is currently accepting applications for the full-time position of Deputy Director.  The Deputy Director is responsible for general management functions related to the operations of the Dauphin County Judicial Center, which incorporates a central booking/intake function, Dauphin County Night Court, and all related diversion and criminal justice functions.  He/she shall be available 24/7 and shall notify the Director when he/she is out of service; 24/7 availability shall not restrict the activities of the employee.  Salary is commensurate with experience.
 
Minimum Education, Experience, and Training Requirements:  Bachelor’s degree in criminal justice, law enforcement, psychology, social sciences or a related field and five years of experience in a related field; or Associate’s degree in one of the listed fields and eight years of experience in a related field; or graduation from high school or an accredited equivalency program and ten years of experience in criminal justice, human services, or a related field.
 
Other Requirements:  Candidate should also possess knowledge related to managing and changing offender behavior.  He/she must acquire and maintain the following certifications:  CPR/First Aid, AED, Passive Restraint, Taser, Oleoresin Capsicum, PPCT- Restraint Training, and Fire Safety.  A favorable criminal background check is required.

Dauphin County Probation Services (Adult Division) is currently accepting applications for the full-time position of Department Clerk 2.  An employee in this position performs clerical work of moderate difficulty, involving heavy typing and answers the phone and directs callers to the proper party.  The employee is also responsible to maintain files on an electronic system and navigate through the case management system; process many standard forms; operate a fax, scanner, and copy machine and deliver inter-office mail.  This is a union position.
 
Minimum Education, Experience and Training Requirements:  Graduation from high school or an accredited equivalency program, with course work in secretarial science and/or a related field; plus any equivalent combination of training and work experience, especially with computers including, but not limited to, Microsoft Word and Microsoft Excel.  A favorable criminal background check is required.
