​Application Process:  Current employees must complete a Transfer Application and attach their resume.  Non-County employees must complete a Dauphin County Application for Employment. Applicants must attach transcripts or other required documentation evidencing qualifications for the position. Persons wishing to apply for a posted Dauphin County Prison position should complete an Application for Prison Employment and submit it to the Dauphin County Department of Human Resources.

While Dauphin County does not inquire into an individual’s criminal history at the time of application, with the exception of Prison positions, certain convictions may disqualify an individual from a position.

Public Safety$18.43
Dauphin County Department of Public Safety is currently accepting applications for the full-time position of Communications Technician.  An employee in this position is responsible to perform technical and administrative work in the County Emergency Management Agency, with primary focus in supporting the agency’s radio and telephone communications systems.  The employee performs routine maintenance activities at radio tower sites and assists with radio and telephone systems administration.  He/she supports the mission critical operations of the communications network and infrastructure 24 X 7.  Salary is commensurate with experience.
 
Minimum Education, Experience and Training Requirements:  Graduation from an accredited college with a two-year degree in a related field; plus one year’s experience supporting technical systems and users with preference of three years’ experience with emergency services or public safety.  Experience in a related technical or administrative field may be substituted year for year for educational requirements. The successful applicant must possess a clean criminal history, strong mechanical and electrical skills, and have an aptitude in computer technology related towards public safety applications.

Dauphin County Prison is currently accepting applications for full-time, varied shift positions of Correctional Officer.  An employee in this position will be responsible for the care, custody and control of male and female inmates.  This is a union position. 
 
Minimum Education, Experience and Training Requirements:  Graduation from high school or an accredited equivalency program.  The qualified candidate must be at least 21 years of age by the date of hire.  Following hire, successful completion and maintenance of accreditation/certification in First Aid, Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation, use of automatic external defibrillator (AED), and satisfactory completion of Basic Training at the PA Dept. of Corrections Academy or its equivalent is required.  A favorable criminal background check is required.

Minimum Education, Experience, and Training Requirements: A bachelor's degree in chemical dependency, sociology, social welfare, psychology, nursing or a related field; and one year direct service experience performing counseling or case management work in alcohol or other drug treatment setting; or a bachelor's degree which includes or is supplemented by successful completion of 18 college credits in sociology, social welfare, psychology, criminal justice or other related social sciences; and one year direct service experience performing counseling or case management work in alcohol or other drug treatment setting; or any equivalent combination of experience and training and a bachelor's degree which includes or is supplemented by successful completion of 18 college credits in sociology, social welfare, psychology, criminal justice or other related social sciences.

This position is headquartered at the Dauphin County Judicial Center, 451 Mall Road, Harrisburg, PA.
 
Minimum Education, Experience, and Training Requirements: A bachelor's degree in chemical dependency, sociology, social welfare, psychology, nursing or a related field; and one year direct service experience performing counseling or case management work in alcohol or other drug treatment setting; or a bachelor's degree which includes or is supplemented by successful completion of 18 college credits in sociology, social welfare, psychology, criminal justice or other related social sciences; and one year direct service experience performing counseling or case management work in alcohol or other drug treatment setting; or any equivalent combination of experience and training and a bachelor's degree which includes or is supplemented by successful completion of 18 college credits in sociology, social welfare, psychology, criminal justice or other related social sciences.

Dauphin County Prison is currently accepting applications for the full-time, varied shift position of Treatment Specialist I.   An employee in this position will provide casework and counseling services to Prison inmates (classified and unclassified; sentenced and unsentenced) on Prison premises.  He/she may work in concert on block with an associated Treatment Specialist II (whose duties he/she may appropriate or share as necessary, or as directed by proper authority), and reports to the Treatment Supervisor, Treatment Coordinator, or Deputy Warden for Treatment Services (as the last directs). This is a union position.
 
Minimum Education, Experience & Training Requirements:  Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in social sciences, psychology, education, or a related field; counseling experience preferred. The qualified candidate must be at least 21 years of age by the date of hire.   A favorable criminal background check is required.
