Full-Time Positions

​Application Process:  Current employees must complete a Transfer Application and attach their resume.  Non-County employees must complete a Dauphin County Application for Employment. Applicants must attach transcripts or other required documentation evidencing qualifications for the position. Applications may be obtained from and must be submitted to the Department of Human Resources.

Persons wishing to apply for a posted Dauphin County Prison position should complete an Application for Prison Employment and submit it to the Dauphin County Department of Human Resources.

While Dauphin County does not inquire into an individual’s criminal history at the time of application, with the exception of Prison positions, certain convictions may disqualify an individual from a position. For a listing of offenses that prohibit individuals from holding positions in certain departments, please see our Prohibited Offenses Listing. Individuals having convictions in these categories may wish to apply for positions with less restrictions.

Prison$20.87
Dauphin County Prison is currently accepting applications for full-time, varied shift positions of Correctional Officer.  An employee in this position will be responsible for the care, custody and control of male and female inmates.  This is a union position. 
 
Minimum Education, Experience and Training Requirements:  Graduation from high school or an accredited equivalency program.  The qualified candidate must be at least 21 years of age by the date of hire.  A favorable criminal background check is required.

Probation Services - Adult Division$13.96
Dauphin County Probation Services (Adult Division) is currently accepting applications for the full-time position of Probation Officer Aide 2 (CRN).  An employee in this position assists line Probation Officers in directing services to clients by assembling personal and socio-economic information on clients and conducting research and determining accurate contact information for clients.  The employee will complete Criminal Reporting Network interviews for adult offenders that receive an alcohol related offense.  This employee also assists with completing paperwork for the Alcohol Highway Safety classes.  This is a union position.
 
Minimum Education, Experience, and Training Requirements:  Graduation from high school or an accredited equivalency program, plus three years of advanced clerical work that includes the collection, recording, compilation, and presentation of office management or program-related information.  Candidate should have demonstrated knowledge of personal computers with Windows XP, Microsoft Word, and Microsoft Excel operating systems and must be proficient in Mail Merge.  A valid class C driver’s license and positive driving record and a favorable criminal background check are required.

Probation Services - Adult Division$17.97
Dauphin County Probation Services (Adult Division) is currently accepting applications for the full-time position of Probation Officer I.  An employee in this position furnishes oversight, professional guidance, and ongoing counseling to persons assigned to his/her authority.  He/she consults with clients’ friends, families, and associates; employers; law-enforcement and social-service agencies; and other County Probation professionals, pursuant to composition and fulfillment of respective rehabilitation plans.  The incumbent monitors clients electronically, by telephone, and afield; employs his/her personal vehicle as necessary; and prepares regular and special reports to his/her Supervisor and/or the Court, as the latter directs.  This is a union position.
 
Minimum Education, Experience, and Training Requirements:  A Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university, or qualification in accordance with the Exceptional Person Clause.  A valid driver’s license and positive driving record and a favorable criminal background check are required.

Judicial Center$17.41
Dauphin County Judicial Center is currently accepting applications for the full-time, varied shift position of Judicial Center Officer.  An employee in this position ensures the efficient processing of detainees through Dauphin County’s centralized booking/processing center.  This is to include ensuring the safety and security of those persons detained and working closely with all law enforcement agencies to provide a timely transfer of custody to the Judicial Center.
 
Minimum Education, Experience and Training Requirements:  Graduation from high school or an accredited equivalency program; Associate’s Degree in Criminal Justice, Social Science, Psychology, or related field preferred.  The qualified candidate must be at least 21 years of age by the date of hire and must acquire and maintain the following certifications:  CPR/First Aid, AED, Passive Restraint Training, Taser, Oleoresin Capsicum, PPCT- Restraint Training, and Fire Safety.  A favorable criminal background check is required.

Dauphin County Social Services for Children & Youth is currently accepting applications for the full-time, day shift position of Fiscal Technician.  An employee in this position will be responsible for performing a variety of duties related to accounts payable processes for a large Children and Youth Department.  These processes include reviewing invoices from all providers and vendors to assure they are accurate and also reflect that proper authorization procedures have been followed.  This individual will be responsible for assisting with the procedures related to the procurement of Title IV-E and TANF funding, as well as securing funding from third party revenue sources including Domestic Relations and Social Security. Also, the employee will need to have a knowledge and understanding of program policy and procedures, and be able to recommend fiscal procedures to implement department changes in response to state and federal regulations.  This is a union position.
 
Minimum Education, Experience, and Training Requirements:  One year as a Fiscal Assistant; or graduation from a four year college or university, including or supplemented by 15 credits in accounting; or three years of work involving the maintenance of fiscal or financial records, including one year of responsible work which involves the application of accounting or fiscal principles and practices and an associate degree in accounting or business administration; or one year of experience in maintaining and reviewing fiscal records and an associate degree in accounting or business administration; or any equivalent combination of experience and training that includes six credits in accounting.

Dauphin County Social Services for Children & Youth is currently accepting applications for the full-time, day shift position of Caseworker 2.  An employee in this position will interview, assess, and plan or provide social services to children, adolescents, and their families.  The employee will establish and maintain associated confidential records, and collaborate with legal staff in judicial and quasi-judicial proceedings pursuant to clients’ well-being.  The employee may task assignments to a Social Services Aide, and will report to a Casework Supervisor.  This is a union position.
 
Minimum Education, Experience, and Training Requirements:  Six months of experience as a County Caseworker 1; or successful completion of the County Social Casework Intern program; or a bachelor's degree with a social welfare or social work major; or a bachelor's degree which includes or is supplemented by 12 college credits in sociology, social welfare, social work, psychology, gerontology, criminal justice, or other related social sciences and one year of professional social casework experience in a public or private social services agency.
