Persons wishing to apply for a posted Dauphin County Prison position should complete an Application for Prison Employment and submit it to the Dauphin County Department of Human Resources.

While Dauphin County does not inquire into an individual’s criminal history at the time of application, with the exception of Prison positions, certain convictions may disqualify an individual from a position.

Judicial Center$17.58
Dauphin County Judicial Center is currently accepting applications for the full-time, varied shift position of Judicial Center Officer.  An employee in this position ensures the efficient processing of detainees through Dauphin County’s centralized booking/processing center.  This is to include ensuring the safety and security of those persons detained and working closely with all law enforcement agencies to provide a timely transfer of custody to the Judicial Center.

Dauphin County Work Release is currently accepting applications for the full-time, varied shift position of Maintenance Engineer.   An employee in this position performs repairs, maintenance, and minor construction of Work Release Center (WRC)/Probation Services (APO) structures, equipment, and premises and supervises Work Release inmates in the performance of same.  An employee in this position shall act as supervisor when the Maintenance Supervisor is unavailable.  The incumbent may work various shifts as needed by the Maintenance Supervisor in order to provide supervision and leadership to the Work Release inmates.  This is a union position.
 
Minimum Education, Experience & Training Requirements:  Graduation from high school or an accredited equivalency program, vocational school, or technical school plus four (4) years’ experience in trade (mechanical, plumbing, electrical) or maintenance work.  It is expected that the successful candidate will attain, within one calendar year of appointment, certification in first-aid, automated external defibrillator use, and cardiopulmonary resuscitation and will maintain said certification for the duration of his/her employment.  A valid driver’s license and positive driving record and a favorable criminal background check are required.

Dauphin County Mental Health/Intellectual Disabilities is currently accepting applications for the full-time position of Intellectual Disabilities Program Specialist 1 (Residential Coordinator).  This is highly responsible work of an advanced professional nature involving program planning, analysis, and monitoring as well as coordination of community intellectual disabilities services.  A primary responsibility of this position is the coordination of residential services to Dauphin County residents living in licensed community and family living homes.  The person selected will be responsibility for ensuring the health, safety and welfare of citizens receiving intellectual disabilities services.  This individual will perform as a member of an integrated management team and will also coordinate with other community agencies and resources.  Work will be performed under the direction of the Deputy Intellectual Disabilities Administrator and reviewed through supervisory meetings and reports.  The position requires some travel to services and meetings in all parts of Dauphin County and occasionally to other parts of the state.
 
Minimum Education, Experience and Training Requirements:  Two years of professional level experience in the field of intellectual disabilities and a bachelor’s degree; or any equivalent combination of experience and training and a bachelor’s degree.

District Attorney$19.74
Dauphin County District Attorney’s Office is currently accepting applications for the full-time position of Child Abuse Coordinator.  An employee in this position is responsible for many of the Child Abuse Prosecution Unit’s day to day functions including the daily in-processing of new child abuse allegations, the coordination of police and Children & Youth Services (CYS) response to the child abuse allegations, and assisting prosecutors with court preparation and presentation.  He/she ensures that there is coordination of the investigations by the various agencies, in particular law enforcement and CYS, responsible for investigating child abuse crimes; prepares and compiles the files maintained by the unit.  The coordinator is often the first person from the District Attorney’s Office the victim and his/her family meet.  He/she attends the victim interviews at the Children’s Resource Center and “screens” the cases for the unit; responds to local hospital emergency rooms in cases of severely injured children to assess the situation and report back to the prosecuting attorneys; and coordinates the multidisciplinary review of pending investigations.  In preparation for the various court hearings, the coordinator actively assists the prosecuting attorneys with victim/witness interviews.  This is an especially important task given the fact the victims are minors and many have been severely traumatized.  Additionally, many of the cases involve witnesses who are medical professionals with limited time to spare for court appearances.  The coordinator is a key player in coordinating the appearance of witnesses in court.  This is a union position.
