Full-Time Positions

​Application Process:  Current employees must complete a Transfer Application and attach their resume.  Non-County employees must complete a Dauphin County Application for Employment. Applicants must attach transcripts or other required documentation evidencing qualifications for the position. Applications may be obtained from and must be submitted to the Department of Human Resources.

Persons wishing to apply for a posted Dauphin County Prison position should complete an Application for Prison Employment and submit it to the Dauphin County Department of Human Resources.

While Dauphin County does not inquire into an individual’s criminal history at the time of application, with the exception of Prison positions, certain convictions may disqualify an individual from a position. For a listing of offenses that prohibit individuals from holding positions in certain departments, please see our Prohibited Offenses Listing. Individuals having convictions in these categories may wish to apply for positions with less restrictions.

An excellent Dauphin County (County) paid benefit package is available to all full-time employees the month following 60 days of employment. The County pays 100% of the premium for the following:

Prison$16.19
Dauphin County Prison is currently accepting applications for the full-time, varied shift position of Treatment Specialist I.   An employee in this position will provide casework and counseling services to Prison inmates (classified and unclassified; sentenced and unsentenced) on Prison premises.  He/she may work in concert on block with an associated Treatment Specialist II (whose duties he/she may appropriate or share as necessary, or as directed by proper authority), and reports to the Treatment Supervisor, Treatment Coordinator, or Deputy Warden for Treatment Services (as the last directs). This is a union position.
 
Minimum Education, Experience & Training Requirements:  Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in social sciences, psychology, education, or a related field; counseling experience preferred. The qualified candidate must be at least 21 years of age by the date of hire.   A favorable criminal background check is required.

Minimum Education, Experience and Training Requirements:  Graduation from high school or an accredited equivalency program. Experience or education in data processing, bookkeeping, and/or secretarial science is preferred.  Computer knowledge is helpful.  A favorable criminal background check is required.

Dauphin County Human Resources is currently accepting applications for the full-time, day shift position of Benefits Assistant II.  An employee in this position assists in administering and communicating all aspects of the County benefits plan while working directly with all employees, department directors, plan vendors and consultants; Also to assist in the annual benefit open enrollment process including conducting benefit meetings, entering data into various systems, and handling account billing and reconciliation requiring attention to details.
 
Minimum Education, Experience, and Training Requirements:  Graduation from high school or an accredited equivalency program, plus some additional business, clerical and computer training required.  Associate degree in business preferred. Plus, 2-3 years working experience, preferably with benefits or government background, or, any acceptable combination of training/experience.  Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel a plus.
