​Application Process:  Current employees must complete a Transfer Application and attach their resume.  Non-County employees must complete a Dauphin County Application for Employment. Applicants must attach transcripts or other required documentation evidencing qualifications for the position. Applications may be obtained from and must be submitted to the Department of Human Resources.

Persons wishing to apply for a posted Dauphin County Prison position should complete an Application for Prison Employment and submit it to the Dauphin County Department of Human Resources.

While Dauphin County does not inquire into an individual’s criminal history at the time of application, with the exception of Prison positions, certain convictions may disqualify an individual from a position.

An excellent Dauphin County (County) paid benefit package is available to all full-time employees the month following 60 days of employment. The County pays 100% of the premium for the following:

Prison$21.07
Dauphin County Prison is currently accepting applications for full-time, varied shift positions of Correctional Officer.  An employee in this position will be responsible for the care, custody and control of male and female inmates.  This is a union position. 
 
Minimum Education, Experience and Training Requirements:  Graduation from high school or an accredited equivalency program.  The qualified candidate must be at least 21 years of age by the date of hire.  Following hire, successful completion and maintenance of accreditation/certification in First Aid, Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation, use of automatic external defibrillator (AED), and satisfactory completion of Basic Training at the PA Dept. of Corrections Academy or its equivalent is required.  A favorable criminal background check is required.

Area Agency on Aging$16.76
Dauphin County Area Agency on Aging is currently accepting applications for the full-time, day shift position of Aging Care Manager 2.  The employee selected for this position will be assigned cases that involve an allegation that an older adult is being abused, neglected or exploited.  This employee will be required to develop a plan that will ensure the safety of the older adult.  This is a union position.
Minimum Education, Experience, and Training Requirements:  Six months of experience as an Aging Care Manager 1, County Caseworker 1, or County Social Casework Intern; or one year of experience in public or private social work and a bachelor’s degree which includes or is supplemented by 12 semester hours credit in sociology, social welfare, psychology, gerontology, or other related social sciences; or a bachelor’s degree with a social welfare major; or any equivalent combination of experience and training and an associate’s degree including successful completion of 12 semester hours credit in sociology, social welfare, psychology, gerontology, or other related social sciences.
 
Other Requirements:  A copy of either the official or unofficial college transcript(s) along with a resume must be attached to the application.  Applicants who do not provide these items will not be interviewed.  A valid driver’s license and positive driving record, a favorable criminal background check, and favorable child abuse and FBI clearances are required.  Working during non-traditional hours may at times be required.
