Persons wishing to apply for a posted Dauphin County Prison position should complete an Application for Prison Employment and submit it to the Dauphin County Department of Human Resources.

While Dauphin County does not inquire into an individual’s criminal history at the time of application, with the exception of Prison positions, certain convictions may disqualify an individual from a position.

Controller's Office$31.51
Dauphin County Controller’s Office is currently accepting applications for a full-time, day shift position of Audit Manager.  Responsibilities of this position include managing staff auditors, planning financial audits, compliance audits and quality management reviews. Responsibilities also include ensuring audits performed are in compliance with Federal, State, and County rules and regulations and meet Generally Accepted Government Auditing Standards (GAGAS), and Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).  Salary is commensurate with experience.
 
Minimum Education, Experience, and Training Requirements:  Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university in accounting, business administration or a related field.  Accreditation as a Certified Public Accountant is a must; a minimum 2 to 4 years of auditing experience at a managerial level is preferred; or any equivalent combination of education, training and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills and abilities for this position.  Must have a working knowledge of Windows/Microsoft Office including Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Access in addition to other software as needed.  A favorable criminal background check is required.

Dauphin County Prison is currently accepting applications for the full-time position of Maintenance Worker.  An employee in this position performs repairs, maintenance, and minor construction of Prison structures, equipment, and premises, and supervises Prison inmates in tasks such as painting and cleaning.  This is a union position. 
 
Minimum Education, Experience and Training Requirements:  Graduation from high school or an accredited equivalency program, plus one year of experience in trade or maintenance work.  The qualified candidate must be at least 21 years of age by the date of hire.  Following hire, successful completion and maintenance of accreditation/certification in First Aid, Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation, use of automatic external defibrillator (AED), and satisfactory completion of Basic Training at the PA Dept. of Corrections Academy or its equivalent is required.  A favorable criminal background check is required.

Minimum Education, Experience, and Training Requirements:  Six months of experience as a CYS Caseworker 1; or successful completion of the Social Casework Intern program; or a bachelor's degree with a social welfare or social work major; or a bachelor's degree which includes or is supplemented by 12 college credits in sociology, social welfare, social work, psychology, gerontology, criminal justice, or other related social sciences and one year of professional social casework experience in a public or private social services agency.

Dauphin County Mental Health/Intellectual Disabilities is currently accepting applications for a full-time, second shift, 3:00PM to 11:00PM, Caseworker 1 or 2 position.  Existing Crisis Intervention Program Caseworker employees can apply based on current status.  This is a position within a 24-hour emergency Crisis Intervention Program designed to provide immediate responses to a wide variety of life crisis situations, including local disasters, for persons in Dauphin County.  The incumbent must provide a range of crisis services over the phone, in the office, and in a variety of community settings such as emergency rooms, police stations, private residences, public places, employment sites, nursing homes and schools.  Consumers include all ages with special emphasis on young persons, the elderly, minorities, and persons with severe and persistent mental illnesses or intellectual disabilities.  The incumbent must be proficient in or demonstrate the ability to learn the following skills and abilities: mental health/psychosocial assessment, evaluation of risk for dangerous behaviors to self/others, crisis counseling, a working knowledge of DSM IV-V diagnoses, safety procedures, rules and regulations pertaining to mental health services and commitments, an ability to provide thorough documentation and record keeping using the program’s EMR system, disposition planning, knowledge of community human services programs, ethics for professional human services staff, ability to communicate orally and in writing, and ability to develop culturally sensitive rapport with diverse populations.  This is a union position.

Caseworker 1 - Minimum Education, Experience and Training Requirements:  A bachelor’s degree in a human services major such as sociology, social welfare, psychology, gerontology or other related social sciences.
Caseworker 2 - Minimum Education, Experience and Training Requirements:  A bachelor’s degree in a human services major such as sociology, social welfare, psychology, gerontology or other related social sciences and one year of professional casework experience in a public or private social services agency.
