​Application Process:  Current employees must complete a Transfer Application and attach their resume.  Non-County employees must complete a Dauphin County Application for Employment. Applicants must attach transcripts or other required documentation evidencing qualifications for the position. Persons wishing to apply for a posted Dauphin County Prison position should complete an Application for Prison Employment and submit it to the Dauphin County Department of Human Resources.

While Dauphin County does not inquire into an individual’s criminal history at the time of application, with the exception of Prison positions, certain convictions may disqualify an individual from a position.

Prison$12.01
Dauphin County Prison is currently accepting applications for the full-time position of Secretary I (Administration).  An employee in this position will work in the Prison’s Mailroom and will be responsible for receiving, inspecting, sorting, and distributing all incoming/outgoing mail.
 
Minimum Education, Experience and Training Requirements:  Graduation from high school or an accredited equivalency program.  The qualified candidate must be at least 21 years of age by the date of hire.  Following hire, successful completion and maintenance of accreditation/certification in First Aid, Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation, use of automatic external defibrillator (AED), and satisfactory completion of Basic Training at the PA Dept. of Corrections Academy or its equivalent is required.  A favorable criminal background check is required.

District Attorney$14.73
Dauphin County District Attorney’s Office is currently accepting applications for the full-time, day shift position of Teamsters Legal Stenographer.  An employee in this position provides legal secretarial support to 30 deputy district attorneys.  This employee will type, proof, edit and file petitions, motions, answers, memoranda, jury instructions, and briefs with the Court of Common Pleas and with the appellate courts from dictation or draft.  He/she will also type and mail correspondence and will work closely with police officers to obtain writs of release for prisoner transports.  Other duties of this position include routine office filing and answering telephone calls.  This is a union position.
 
Minimum Education, Experience and Training Requirements:  Graduation from high school or an accredited equivalency program with coursework in secretarial science, clerical skills, business administration, business English and/or related fields and 1-2 years of experience in a legal/government office is required; an Associate’s degree or certification in Legal Secretarial or Legal Assistant studies is preferred.  Or any equivalent combination of education, training and work experience.  Proficiency in Windows/Microsoft Office including Word and Excel and a favorable criminal background check are required.

Dauphin County Prison is currently accepting applications for the full-time, varied shift position of Treatment Specialist I.   An employee in this position will provide casework and counseling services to Prison inmates (classified and unclassified; sentenced and unsentenced) on Prison premises.  He/she may work in concert on block with an associated Treatment Specialist II (whose duties he/she may appropriate or share as necessary, or as directed by proper authority), and reports to the Treatment Supervisor, Treatment Coordinator, or Deputy Warden for Treatment Services (as the last directs). This is a union position.
 
Minimum Education, Experience & Training Requirements:  Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in social sciences, psychology, education, or a related field; counseling experience preferred. The qualified candidate must be at least 21 years of age by the date of hire.   A favorable criminal background check is required.

Probation Services - Adult Division$18.14
Dauphin County Probation Services (Adult Division) is currently accepting applications for the full-time position of Probation Officer I.  An employee in this position furnishes oversight, professional guidance, and ongoing counseling to persons assigned to his/her authority.  He/she consults with clients’ friends, families, and associates; employers; law-enforcement and social-service agencies; and other County Probation professionals, pursuant to composition and fulfillment of respective rehabilitation plans.  The incumbent monitors clients electronically, by telephone, and afield; employs his/her personal vehicle as necessary; and prepares regular and special reports to his/her Supervisor and/or the Court, as the latter directs.  This is a union position.

Minimum Education, Experience, and Training Requirements:  A Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university, or qualification in accordance with the Exceptional Person Clause.  A valid driver’s license and positive driving record and a favorable criminal background check are required.

Dauphin County Drug & Alcohol Services is currently accepting applications for the full-time, day shift position of Prevention Specialist.  While this position is viewed as a day shift position, there will be times in which evening and weekend work are required.  An employee in this position will perform Student Assistance Program (SAP) liaison duties which include SAP assessments and participation on school-based teams.  The employee will perform various prevention activities including education, dissemination of information, attendance at various community events, and participation on assigned committees and workgroups.  In addition, the employee will provide direct prevention services mandated by six federal strategies which include information dissemination, education, alternative activities, community-based process and environmental initiatives, and problem identification and referral.
 
Minimum Education, Experience, and Training Requirements:  A bachelor’s degree in health education, education, the social or behavioral sciences or related fields and one year of experience in drug and alcohol prevention work; or any equivalent combination of experience and training and a bachelor’s degree in health education, education, the social or behavioral sciences or related fields.
 
Other Requirements: A copy of either the official or unofficial college transcript(s) along with a resume must be attached to the application.  Applicants who do not provide these items will not be interviewed.    A valid driver’s license, a favorable criminal background check, child abuse and FBI clearances are required.  Working non-traditional hours will at times be required.
