Persons wishing to apply for a posted Dauphin County Prison position should complete an Application for Prison Employment and submit it to the Dauphin County Department of Human Resources.

While Dauphin County does not inquire into an individual’s criminal history at the time of application, with the exception of Prison positions, certain convictions may disqualify an individual from a position. Individuals having convictions in these categories may wish to apply for positions with less restrictions.

Prison$16.19
Dauphin County Prison is currently accepting applications for the full-time, varied shift position of Treatment Specialist I.   An employee in this position will provide casework and counseling services to Prison inmates (classified and unclassified; sentenced and unsentenced) on Prison premises.  He/she may work in concert on block with an associated Treatment Specialist II (whose duties he/she may appropriate or share as necessary, or as directed by proper authority), and reports to the Treatment Supervisor, Treatment Coordinator, or Deputy Warden for Treatment Services (as the last directs). This is a union position.
 
Minimum Education, Experience & Training Requirements:  Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in social sciences, psychology, education, or a related field; counseling experience preferred. The qualified candidate must be at least 21 years of age by the date of hire.   A favorable criminal background check is required.

Dauphin County Public Defender’s Office is currently accepting applications for the full-time, day shift position of Teamsters Administrative Assistant I.  An employee in this position provides time-bound clerical support work involving extensive computer usage and transcription of correspondence and legal materials.  He/she provides receptionist coverage and updates the case management tracking system.  This is a union position. 
 
Minimum Education, Experience and Training Requirements:  Graduation from high school or an accredited equivalency program. Windows/Microsoft Office experience required; legal secretarial skills preferred; plus 2-3 years working experience in an office environment, county government or court system; or, any acceptable combination of equivalent training and/or experience.  A favorable criminal background check is required.

Parks and Recreation$16.57
Dauphin County Parks and Recreation is currently accepting applications for the full-time position of Environmental Educator.  An employee in this position provides environmental education and recreation programming for the County Parks system.  He/she plans, develops and implements environmental education and recreation programs; develops interpretive displays; establishes and maintains liaisons with community organizations and educational resources.  He/she collaborates with and supervises volunteers, interns and community groups; organizes and deploys same in projects of research, construction, presentation, preservation and upkeep of the parks.  This position requires a flexible work schedule including evenings and weekends, as necessary.  Salary is commensurate with experience.
 
Minimum Education, Experience and Training Requirements:  Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Education, Environmental Science, or a closely related field plus two (2) or more years of experience in environmental education, environmental science and/or nature center administration required.  A favorable criminal background check and favorable child abuse and FBI clearances are required.

Dauphin County Judicial Center is currently accepting applications for the full-time, varied shift position of Judicial Center Officer.  An employee in this position ensures the efficient processing of detainees through Dauphin County’s centralized booking/processing center.  This is to include ensuring the safety and security of those persons detained and working closely with all law enforcement agencies to provide a timely transfer of custody to the Judicial Center.
 
Minimum Education, Experience and Training Requirements:  Graduation from high school or an accredited equivalency program; Associate’s Degree in Criminal Justice, Social Science, Psychology, or related field preferred.  The qualified candidate must be at least 21 years of age by the date of hire and must acquire and maintain the following certifications:  CPR/First Aid, AED, Passive Restraint Training, Taser, Oleoresin Capsicum, PPCT- Restraint Training, and Fire Safety.  A favorable criminal background check is required.

Dauphin County Court Reporters’ Office is currently accepting applications for the full-time position of Court Reporter.  An employee in this position is responsible for taking the stenographic record of court proceedings.  This employee is also responsible for timely and accurate production of transcripts when requested, by using computer-aided transcription.  This is a union position. 
 
Minimum Education, Experience & Training Requirements:  Applicant must either hold at least a RPR Certification from the National Court Reporters Association OR have two (2) years of court reporting experience (per RJA 5000.3) and be able to pass with 95% accuracy on the following: Literary at 180 wpm, Jury Charge at 200 wpm, and Testimony at 225 wpm.

Area Agency on Aging$12.96
Dauphin County Area Agency on Aging is currently accepting applications for the full-time, day shift position of Clerk Typist 2.  An employee in this position will perform data-entry duties into the Social Assessment Management System and Omnia software programs and all other Agency database programs to record consumer, provider or other pertinent data for service authorizations and service deliveries as well as for the roster and reporting needs of the Agency.  The employee will communicate with the various Agency service providers and trouble-shoot service provider reporting issues.  The employee will also prepare and mail service provider monthly data-collection forms and rosters.  This is a union position.
 
Minimum Education, Experience, and Training Requirements:  Six months of typing experience and educational development to the level of completion of high school or equivalent; or completion of a high school business curriculum which included at least one typing course.
 
Other Requirements:  A resume must be attached to the application.  Applicants who do not provide this item will not be interviewed.  A valid driver’s license, a favorable criminal background check and favorable child abuse and FBI clearances are required.  Working during non-traditional hours may at times be required.
