August 24, 2017 - Dauphin County to host 4th annual Northern Dauphin Wealth through Health event on September 9

ELIZABETHVILLE, PA (August 24, 2017)—Dauphin County Commissioners Jeff Haste, Mike Pries and George P. Hartwick, III and the Northern Dauphin Human Services Center will host the 4th annual Northern Dauphin Wealth through Health event from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 9 at the Short Mountain Conservation Club, 200 Gun Club Road, in Lykens.
“When it comes to health care, we should be proactive, get regular checkups and stay active,” said Hartwick, who oversees the county Human Services agencies. “To help promote health and wellness, we’re partnering with a number of providers and experts to host this free annual health fair.”
The fair will offer health screenings, giveaways, health information, products, live entertainment and contests. Refreshments from Deimler’s Pork BBQ, Boyer’s Food Market, Red Robin and the Short Mountain Conservation Club will be available for purchase. Flowers, fresh produce, aromatherapy candles and jewelry will also be for sale.
“Health experts will be on hand to answer questions and conduct blood pressure checks and other screenings,” said Haste. “Many health problems can be prevented entirely or improved with early detection.”
This free event will also include a cornhole tournament, archery contest, yard games, mascots, child finger-printing and car seat safety checks by the State Police, the Kiss Mobile and Booky Mobile. A live auction benefitting the Dr. Barry Daub Healthcare Scholarship Fund will be held at 1 p.m.
“Our goal is to raise awareness and encourage people of all ages to be more proactive about their health,” said Pries. “Children can also learn healthy habits at the event by bringing their favorite toy or stuffed animal to get a checkup with the PinnacleHealth Life Team.”
The Central PA Blood Bank will also be on hand to accept donations in honor of Austin Kent.
The event is sponsored by the Dauphin County Commissioners, Northern Dauphin Human Services Center, WQLV 98.9, the Short Mountain Conservation Club, Penn State Milton S. Hershey Medical Center, Capital Blue Cross and Homeland Hospice.
