February 02, 2017 - Northern Dauphin Human Services Center offers free prom gowns, accessories as part of Project Prom Wear

ELIZABETHVILLE, PA (February 2, 2017) – For the ninth consecutive year, Dauphin County ’s Northern Dauphin Human Services Center (NDHSC) is offering free prom gowns and accessories to high school girls who cannot otherwise afford them as part of Project Prom Wear.

“We want to be a resource for struggling families,” said Commissioner George P. Hartwick, III, who oversees the county Human Services Department and the NDHSC. “This program gives local students the opportunity to attend their proms and build special memories.”

Beginning in February, dozens of beautiful gowns in a variety of sizes and styles will be available.  Teens who are interested in finding a gown can visit the center from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. on weekdays or call the center to schedule an appointment.

“The success of Project Prom Wear rests on the generosity of donors who make this program possible,” said Chairman Jeff Haste.

The NDHSC accepts donations of new or gently used prom gowns, shoes, purses and accessories throughout the year.

“Donations are still being accepted at the center,” said Commissioner Mike Pries. “Thanks to this annual program and the many generous people who have donated items, dozens of teens who may not otherwise be able to afford going to prom will now be able to attend.”

The NDHSC is located at 295 State Dr. in Elizabethville.  For more information, or to schedule an appointment, please call 717-905-2700.
