Court Departments
The Dauphin County Court of Common Pleas consists of:
- Eight judges each with a support staff of judicial assistant, law clerk, court reporter, and court crier,
- A District Court Administrator with a support staff of four deputy district court administrators, one jury administrator, one attorney, two paralegals, three administrative assistants, one clerk, one secretary, one floater/senior judge secretary and one information technology (IT) specialist, and
- One administrative assistant and floater in the Court Reporter's Office.
The Court also includes:
- The Magisterial District Judges
- Adult Probation Office
- Domestic Relations Office
- Bureau of Fines and Costs
- Juvenile Probation Office, and
- Law Library
The function of the Court of Common Pleas is the administration of the judicial system in Dauphin County, insuring that the legal rights of all are protected and preserved. The Court of Common Pleas handles the full gamut of legal cases including jury trials for criminal and civil matters, juvenile hearings, spousal and child support hearings, custody hearings, divorces, adoption hearings, estate matters, guardianship hearings, land use disputes, name changes, license suspension appeals and emergency matters such as injunctions.
