Welcome to Dauphin County Geographic Information Systems (GIS)

Dauphin County GIS is a division of the Department of Information Technology. GIS, a computer system which stores information describing places on the surface of the earth, is used for mapping and land based analysis. Using its ability to combine geographic data with existing databases, GIS aids decision making processes by providing an additional tool for analysis.

GIS can answer questions like:

• Where is something located?
• What is at a location?
• What has changed over time?
• What are the spatial patterns?
• What if.?
