Forty years ago, a group of Dauphin County farmers formed the Conservation District to focus on soil and water concerns and coordinate the efforts of state and federal conservation agencies. With increasing urban development and associated storm water complications, the need for conservation remains strong today.

The Conservation District serves both rural and urban constituencies, with programs aimed at the wise management of ALL natural resources: Agricultural Land Preservation; Environmental Education; Erosion & Sediment Pollution Control Services; Nutrient Management/Chesapeake Bay Program; and Stormwater Management. These are just a few of the many programs administered by the Conservation District.
